Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the recommendations of the CDC and MN Dept of Health, we will be cancelling our Marketing for Farmers workshop next Tuesday. If you RSVP'd, we have your email address and will keep you informed on our plans to reschedule.
Driftless Grown is hosting a free marketing workshop for farmers on Tuesday, March 24, from 5:00-7:00pm at the Chatfield Center for Arts. The workshop will feature a panel of experienced farmers with diverse marketing strategies followed by Q&A and networking.
// The event is free, but registration is required //
Driftless Grown is inviting all farmers to join this marketing workshop geared towards farmer to farmer conversations and discussions to help growers better understand the benefits and challenges of different marketing channels. Farmers from different scales and corners of the agricultural industry will share their experience getting started on their farms and what decisions they made to get them to where they are today.
Featured panelists include Jack Hedin from Featherstone Fruits & Vegetables, an organic vegetable farm with a large CSA program, Lisa Klein, of Hidden Stream Farm and Dover Processing, Sara George of D & S Gardens and Market Manager for Red Wing and Wabasha Farmers’ Markets, and Rachelle Meyer of Wholesome Family Farms.
Panelists will discuss how they have marketed their businesses, focusing on direct relationships with individual consumers. They will also discuss how other marketing channels such as restaurants, co-ops, and other wholesale have supplemented their direct to consumer sales. They will share what has worked and what hasn’t, and how their marketing strategies have changed over time. They will also speak to the role of local farmers in building community.
